an information ecosystem

This project explores the potential for an immersive wireless environment controlled through natural human gestures. Specifically, it focuses on the air we breathe as carrying information from the wireless internet, much as air carries carbon dioxide and oxygen between humans and plants.

I rigged a plant with a breath sensor and micro controller connected to an internet packet sniffer, cueing the plant to the wireless network flowing in the space immediately surrounding the plant and person.

Breathing on the plant triggers a flurry of text that makes visible the wireless internet traffic passing through the air around the user. The plant absorbs this information, analyzing the data for human-bound information, and releases those packets as projections of text.
