the plywood tree

there was a man who made a tree, just so he could chop it down.

Turning 'cradle to cradle' on its side, this project was a study in guerilla re-use that manipulates "natural" commoditization cycles. I built a fourteen foot tall tree out of plywood and planted it outside in the Winter of 2006. In the Spring of 2007, I chopped it down and milled it back into a sheet of plywood, which I then returned to Home Depot in the Summer, in exchange for a paper receipt. See more photos and video here.
